A main criteria was easy integration into a home network with a mixture of MAC and PC, hard wired and WI-FI. Many of its competitors suffered from poor MAC drivers. As a graphics design studio was involved, it had to produce images suitable for customer proofs.This printer was easy to setup. It’s quiet, well constructed, and has a network quality control panel matrix. It’s drivers came on-line in both MAC and PC applications with no problems. A monitoring application is included. It has native PostScript and PCL6 with, at least for the PC, two separate printer identities and automatically sets the default toner usage to B/W for PCL-6 and color for PS, although the printer, of course, responds correctly to transmitted color/bw information, anyway. This insures that black toner is preferred for B/W prints verses color toner used to produce a black tone (saves toner).Paper handling has been very satisfactory. The duplexer works rapidly and uses a unique method of processing the A side of two sheets at a time, then the B side. Legal sized duplex was no problem. Card stock was no problem.
